ballyhaise are favs every year, they have had a good league campain(like every year) but can they take that into the championship ( i doubt it)belturbet could be a dark horse for the title , cootehill should learn from there mistakes from last year, laraghs young side could do ok and a full swad team could be more than a handful
winners: cootehill
Runner up: ballyhaise / belturbet / swad

True Paulie - Ballyhaise have been panicking for years they should have a strong team! I dont reckon Swad team will challenge it unless they have full squad and a good run of teams, Cootehill had a flattering scoreline against a weak Cavan Gaels team, take Arva out of the league table that leaves Belturbet and Drumlane !!

Ballyhaise will bottle it like they do every year, regardless of their League form over the past few months. It's Cootehill's to lose in my opinion! I wouldn't even read anything into their win over Cavan Geals supposedly Intermediate team last weeekend, which by the way wouldn't win a Junior B title, some of their players were quite cleary at that standard. How they are still even allowed take part in the Intermediate Championship is a joke. Anyway, i backed Cootehill a few weeks ago and i'm sticking to it, Belturbet to come close!

Totally agree with you asked that question Sunday night in Breffni and was told they are not allowed to compete in the Junior has to be intermediate. Total joke way out of their depth. They gave a few walkovers in division 3 I was told as they couldn't field a team

I think Belturbet can cause a big shock here. Walking through division 2 at the minute and will be full of confidence.
Very unfair for Swad/Bridge having to play their replay midweek and then again at the wknd.

But sure as i said they probably wouldn't even win the Junior B Championship. Why not even put them in the Junior Championship, at least they might get a competitive game somewhere, cos they certainly wouldn't win it anyway. Can't see them being in the Intermediate Championship next year, it's doing nothing for them and in my opinion disrespects clubs when they have the face what they faced last Sunday. I know 6/7 of the Gaels 2nd team wouldn't make our Junior team!

Couldn't agree more, some clubs are having to wait 3/4 weeks to play games since last Friday, and some a wee bit longer. So to ask them to play 3 times in a week is nothing short of a joke. No disrespect to the Reserve Championships which are played mid week and during the week which is fine, but were talking about the Intermediate Championship here, with one of the favourites in Swadlinbar!

Massive difference between division 2 and division 1B, so I would take Belturbets good run of form with a pinch of salt. I think (and hope) it will be Cootehill's year.

Email received by my Club on July 21st highlighting dates for replays (July 30th for games last weekend and Aug 6th for games this weekend). On the same day, Fixtures were received by the Club which had Bailieborough vs. Swanlinbar or Butlersbridge down for August 3rd in Killygarry. So i suppose 13 days notice was given.

Belturbet with Bud Ftz now back from Australia will pose a big threat. A lot of players unavailable last year, but they seemed to have
re - grouped this year with Jason Reilly back as manager and are playing well.

kill were missing 6 of the team that won the junior last night, so we cant look into that result much, even tho i think belturbet would have won anyway, mountnugent are a poor outfit and with david givney leaving them they are just worst so cant look into the result either, cootehills win against the gaels is the same poor gaels team, and swad easily overcame the bridge in the replay

eatmyfish, when did cootehill last bottle it

Went to Ballyhaise Mountnugent game last night to watch nephew on Ballyhaise team. First thing that I noticed was how few players were listed on the programme for Mountnugent ,a total of 18 whereas Ballyhaise listed 30
I asked a Mountnugent supporter what the story was and she explained they had lost 12 or more players in the past year due to retirements and immigration. She also stated that 5 of their team played u16 last year
This was Bourne out when they took to the field, in essence a very young team doing their best for their club, inexperienced against a full strength very experienced outfit like Ballyhaise.
Ballyhaise will have taken nothing from this game and as my wife said on the trip home, she felt sorry for the young Mountnugent lads.
We forget the impact of immigration on all areas especially small clubs. Shannon Gaels went through it and many others such as maghera are currently suffering from lack of players.
I wish all clubs well especially those who are struggling to field teams and makes me appreciate that our own club is not in that position at present.
So on last nights game , Ballyhaise looked good but how good remains to be seen as they were not tested
