Cavan U 21's winning well at the minute in Mayo 1 - 14 to 0 - 10pts

That was the final score. Experimental team again from Cavan. Dara McVeety and Conor Moynagh were introduced as subs which was good to see.
Lots of competition in the forwards, with the likes of Enda Hessin, Andy Graham, Kevin Bouchier getting a run.

Experimental Mayo team also their two main forwards not even on the bench. On that result it seems Cavan have a stronger panel but its hard to know how the game would go if both had their strongest 15 starting.

Anyone know how we're shaping up lads? Have we had any recent challenges or anything? Derry away in the preliminary round is fast approaching.

Think we'll struggle this year to be honest with you - very difficult route to final and don't think we have the firepower up front to keep it going for four games . This coupled with the fact that a few of the other counties "owe us one" , getting to an Ulster semi-final would be a huge achievement . You'd have to fancy Armagh or Donegal this year for provincial honours . Goes without saying that I hope I'm proved completely wrong!!!

Have seen most of the Ulster U21 sides in action this year the two best IMO are Tyrone,Cavan and i'd be shocked if one of those two doesn't win it.

Hi analyser , you've seen more than me so this year but I'd hardly call it a shock if either of us don't win . Our side of the draw is a real minefield , very difficult route . Armagh are decent and Donegal are very strong plus it's almost guaranteed that one of these sides will contest the final . Fermanagh might cause an upset but can't see them reaching final .

Don't think Cavan will be looking past Derry. They have one of the best players at this level in Ryan Bell, who is also eligible next year. Emmet Bradley, Ciaran McFaul,Conor McAtamney, among others have experience at Senior level. This Derry side were highly rated at Minor level but suffered a shock defeat to Fermanagh in the quarter finals. Id say they will be more focused for Cavan, after winning 3 u21 titles.

Well said FoolsGold.
The addition of the ballinderry lads too, especially young mckinless (who got senior club player of the year for ulster i think) will be big additions to their squad. Make no mistake about it, the winners of this game will be in a great place heading into a semi. Battle ahead. An Cabhan Abu

The winners don't get into the semi, they get to play Tyrone in the 1/4 final.

The winner of that Tyrone v Cavan match will win Ulster U21 this year IMHO.

If Cavan beat Derry, they will play Tyrone in Breffni.

2 whole hearted players we could be doing with, Dara McAveety and Conor Moynagh - are they back in action ?

Hopefully we will be at full strength because Derry wont be easy. It was amazing the amount of players that were used in the Hastings Cup and they were very unlucky not to win it out. Just shows how strong underage football has become in the county. I would say there is at least 2 players in the running for every position. So Peter and Ronan and the other mentors will have a tough job to decide on the starting 15.
I hope the lads do well and get another assault on the u21 title rolling again. The Cavan supporters have had such a fantastic run in the last 4 years and reports say this team could be the best of the lot. Really looking forward to seeing them play!!
When will the team be named?

The very best of luck to the lads and management this evening. Following this group of players over the last 4 years has been a privilege. Hoping they can keep our great run going tonight. Derry have some serious quality, particularly up front, but we have a terrific panel to operate from and our lads are well capable of getting a win.

BELIEVE.
