If Johnston does return to Cavan Gaels would the people of Cavan be in favour of him returning to the cavan squad?

he is back. Him and Martin Dunne with be an absolutly unstoppable force in this years championship and it will continue into the county set up next year. No doubt about it

As Terry said he will have to prove himself at club level first and then he might be in with a cahance. On his form this year with the Lillies he is a long way behind an awful lot of our U21's not to mention the current Seniors.Enda Reilly coming back from NYC might be a better option!!!

His return can only be permitted if it receives the unanimous approval of every player and mentor in the Cavan panel in an open squad discussion, coupled with a marked improvement in attitude and return to form.

I have said already that I completely support tyrone's win at all costs approach so I would have to support seanie's return if it improved our chances of success.

It would be hiprocritical of me to say otherwise.

Not sure why would we want a player who can't get starting for an average side like Kildare. Lets see how he does in the club championship and if he combines well with Dunne (I somehow doubt it they are too similar).

I'm sure he'll get some special attention. But he has brought most of it on himself.

Should he return I personally would be calling for a countywide bycott of the senior team, what he done was treacherous beyond compare and his presence in any squad club or county would be detrimental in the extreme.

That aside, the number of capable young lads that are already there, never mind the standard thats coming through, he is not needed!

And for the record, that trip to Croker on Sunday was the 21st competitive Cavan fixture I've attended this year, aint no fairweather bol**ks giving his opinion here.

is he definitely back? nothing on the gaa transfer site? big boost for both the gaels and cavan. We badly needed someone of his score-getting abilities when Dunne and keating went missing after the 4th or 5th minute on sunday

Went missing or their teammates lost the ability to kick a ball in their general direction??

We did to be fair need a change up front but Kevin Tierney never really got a chance this year to prove himself. There were plenty of times Dunne and Keating were off the boil and Tierney should have came on but didnt.

The runs from both Keating and Dunne were diabolical. In fact runs is an overstatement , they stood behind their men waving their arms and making no runs at all. Mayos Ciaran McDonald in his prime wouldnt have picked the lads out, even from a free kick.

Its no coincidence we continually lost the ball at the 45, because we were going sideways due to no inside runs. Particularly inthe first half.

Not needed and not wanted. Simple as that.

i wouldnt say no to him if i thought he could bring us a step forward next year ,but i dont think he would do the running and work the current forwards is doing ,he always came accross as a bit lazy to me unless he got the ball in his chest ,he doesnt like a high ball either ,i dont know see how he does with the gales and its up to terry and co

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMm70lpHrhA that there sums up why he shouldnt be back,, i always was surporting him for Cavan and kinda felt bad for him with all that happened,, but that day in breffni when he had to get taking that free against us showed he had no respect for the Cavan surporters or his ex team mates,, He shouldnt even get the option to get back.

without a shadow of a doubt, from a non gaels man, seanie johnston is lightyears the best club footballer in Cavan and the county set up would be brainless to not include him next year, a stronger, gutsy and allround better player than martin dunne in my opinion

I can't believe we are discussing this. He couldnt get away from us fast enough, rushed to take a free against us in Breffni and now that he has realised he's not that good after all, he wants back.
Sorry Seanie, but we've moved on. We have a bunch of talented young lads who are proud of their county, proud to wear the jersey and willing to " work hard" while they wear it.
His return should not even be considered. He would only disrupt what we have.
Here's a thought; We only started to improve after he left !!!

Seanie Johnson has alwaz been a big Personnality regards football in Cavan. That is after swelling after his Kildare Saga! I don t think he would fit back into this developing squad of very young players. terry has built this team on hard work & honesty. very hard for both him & management to forget the past.

I ve never seen him play well anywhere but the inside line. If you look at the game now & last weekend as pointed out on Sunday Game. The inside forwards are been taken out of it with the sweeper role.

Maybe he can play on the 40. Gooch can but again hes 6,1 Id prefer to wait & nuture whats comming through. God knows we ve waited long enough another few years would nt matter......

If we did bring him back, what sort of a message would that send to the young u21 lads hoping to play senior football for their county? Keep the faith in the youth and don't delve back into the past.

I think he should be given the same consideration as any other player in Cavan. If he is playing well for the Gaels then he may be worth a trial next year. If he comes through that trial and is committed then he could be included on the panel for training and if he comes through that he could be in consideration for a place on the bench.

However, I don't think he's good or committed enough to get this far.
