intermediate/junior Championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Since most of the chat about football concerns the senior teams, did many or any people catch any of the intermediate or even junior games over the past weekend. Maybe spotted some potential players for cavan ? Some teams putting up some good scores also SOME of these championship games are more competitive than than some senior games.

Great to see us " minnows" being featured lol
I didn't catch any games last weekend as i was working, but free this weekend.
A few surprises in Junior.
Big wins for Kill, and Mountnugent. I think it's Ballymacugh's to loose.

Apart from Kingscourt Ballinagh what game wasn't competitive in senior?

Pardon me maybe competitive was a bad term to use as i was getting carried away with the kingscourt V Mullahoran game. But i did watch a few senior games and was unimpressed about the slow play and basic skills.

Never the less this is more to do with the Other championships going on. I see today the celt cant indicate where all scores were coming from in certain games. that says it all to me really. complete lack of respect towards the intermediate & junior.

StirringIt yeah there were some very big wins few caught me by surprise tbh, thoguh knockbride might do something i guess not tho.

I seen Ballymacugh play not too long ago very physical and should have a big say in the junior they are my tip anyway.

Anyone want to predict this weekend results ?

The celt not being able to name some scores in games has to be the jerseys it's near impossible to say who scored because you cannot see the number on the jerseys Cootehill and Lavey are an example there are several others. I feel the hoops should have a white or black square with the players number in an opposite colour

Some good games last weekend in the Junior Championship. I was at a couple of games. Most of the teams in it seem to be on a fairly level playing field bar Corlough & Maghera as you would expect. Ballymachugh looking strong bit a long way to go. Some surprises with Kill on 4 points and Munterconnacght on 3 already. Drumalee got a good win from what I heard, and probably should have won more comfortably, they will cause teams problems and could go on a run. Templeport seem to be in trouble and if they lose to Drumalee on Sunday they will be out on the Championship already after winning it 2 years ago. Anyone else got anything to add?

Was expecting Ballymachugh to win Junior, however Drung put them to the sword at the weekend and should have won by more. They missed 3 open goals and their talisman Declan McEntee was black carded after 15 minutes.
Ballymachugh not mobile up front. Drung ran at them and cut them open. Drung might be a good outside bet for Junior.

Ballymachugh played their county man who was not fit to walk let alone play football.

Ballymachugh thought they were going to walk this Championship, big wake up call for then last weekend against Drung, who will rightly believe they could go on and win it now. Their only downside might be their small panel of players. Ballymachugh picked up a couple of injuries aswell last weekend so it makes things very interesting. Drumalee also had another good win against Templeport and seem to be coming into form at the right time, they won't be too far away. It's between Drung, Drumalee & Ballymachugh still in my opinion. Kill will make it as far as the semi-finals. Kildallan are my dark horse!

I hear there was controversy at the Shannon Gaels Mountnugent game on Sunday.
The game was tight and with a minute to go the scoreboard showed it was a draw. Mountnugent scored a point with seconds to go giving them what everyone thought was the winning score.
Turns out the scoreboard was wrong at it was a draw. Lucky for mountnugent that they pushed for what they thought was the winner !!

Templeport out of it before the final round. Drung seem to be going well, they lost a few players in the last few years, Ciaran Galligan to Ballybay. Barry Watters went to a Club in Louth.
Drumalee with McCormick, Gaffney, Donahoe, have lots of experience of playing and winning at a higher level. Ballymacugh and Knockbride be thereabouts.

Looks like Killesandra be junior next year the way they are going. They would be a strong outfit for that level if all are available. Redhills likely to go down with them, and another.

Butlersbridge,Killinkere, Denn, cornafean and even Bailieboro could be in relegation fight following last round of intermediate championship. Junior wide open with no standout team to date.
