New Cavan Manager

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Rory Gallagher is available. I think we should go full belt to get him on board as the next Cavan manager. Has great experience and done well with a Donegal team who were burnt out by McGuinness.

And who should we go after the following year?

What is your problem and where is this loyalty to McGlennon coming from. Gallagher has alot more experience at this level and would be a welcome addition. Give him 3 years.

Mattie will get another 12 months at the very least.....and I think he should but he is under pressure

The current manager was handed a three year contract and has two years remaining. It's folly to think that there will be any change after just one year!

won't matter who we have.
We simply don't have the quality. No natural forwards. Years of playing a system has stifled individual flair.
I suffered this year but it will be my last.

And I definitely wouldn't be swapping Mattie for Rory Gallagher. We are defensive minded enough he'd add to our problems

Nothing to do with loyalty you would be on this time next year looking for another manager that's all.

No doubt about it Mattie will get another year at least. Hopefully management were at all the championship games last weekend at ALL levels. For me 2 or 3 of the arva lads worth a trial & maybe 2 or 3 from ramor & 1 or 2 from Cuchullains. I know his first year was disastrous but think it's disrespectful to talk about a new manager when Mattie still in charge

Mattie will be getting another year. And he was at games. Who are the two or three from Ramor that should get a chance that haven't before or have being asked and didn't want to go in. The only playee I can think of is Bradley. Not sure if he's done in France yet though.

This thread is nonsense - Mattie will be there for the 3 years. And do you actually think Gallagher wants the Cavan job?

He may take over his original county team who are not too far behind us.

Having being able to watch 7 seven championship matches 6 senior and one junior I have to disagree with you regarding natural forwards. One lad in particular stood head and shoulders above the rest and I wonder why he has not been mentioned before. He will be a huge asset should he be called in and the boss plays the team how he said he would and none of this lateral crap. Regarding quality again I have to disagree if what I saw are willing to commit and used in their positions the future is not all that bad at all. Looking forward to seeing Kingscourt V Ramor to see how they compete. Both have 2 points so not the end of the world losing a game.

Yes Barry played very well along with scoring every free that was placed in front of him I think but the opposition were so bad I never thought I would see the day they would be so bad. But a natural full forward he is not. I am sure the management will have noticed how he played and what he did last Saturday. You see from here on in the team that represents Cavan come January will be called the managers team no one else and come this time next year the finger can be pointed in what ever direction one feels is correct.

It would seem a lot of the posters have not been at any senior matches. For had they been it would have been very obvious who the forward I am referring too was. I have no intention of naming anyone as potential candidates for the county for it has been stated before what would I know about football so leave it at that thank you. If Cavan_slasher wants any help he can get my number in Breifni for this forum will not post my email or number.

I have a fair idea who you are talking about. One of two young lads, one played Saturday evening the other Sunday.

So why don't you name them then and share your knowledge. My names are personal and it will be interesting come the end of the championship if my opinion has changed. I have not kept note for more than three years but this year I am if only to see if it the same old story or the future might be heading in the right direction. If the players are good enough and willing they have to be called in for it's the only way forward.
