Very interesting speech by Alan Clarke after the League Final. Didn't hold back in his criticism of the County Board and their fixture making.

Think most club players would agree with Clarke, leagues start in Feburary and still manage to drag into December.

The problem with Clarke kingscourt castlerahan they think they are head and shoulders above everyone else, case of do what we say not what the CCC say or the county board.

So mowbar you agree with still playing football this time of year while the club player waits around during summer twiddling their thumbs.

No I don't agree with matches this late but with matches being called off to suit clubs this situation will alway's arise. Time they did what was agreed at the start of the year and stop arse-ing about.

" Head & shoulders above everybody else, do what we say " - what is that meant to mean Mowbar ?
So clubs should say nothing & continue playing football in December. I'm sure if it was Swanlinbar/Drung/whoever that were lucky enough to get to a final, they would also complain if it was played in December.
The breffni league was a farce, with some teams, not fulfilling fixtures, while their main team played challenge matches during the week. Yet it has been voted in again for 2015, mainly by junior & intermediate clubs.
God forbid our senior county team ever actually wins provincial honours in the coming years, what will the club fixture schedule be like then. Every year there is a master fixture list sent out & you may as well put it in your toilet roll holder for all that it is adhered to. Club football is the grass roots of the GAA & need to start treating it with the respect it deserves or numbers will continue to dwindle. New county board members need to put systems in place to improve & prolong the standard off football in the county. Not turn players away from it.

In fairness Mowbar the cancelling of fixtures is not as prevalent as it was a couple years ago. We now have way more fixtures even though we rarely finished on time. I think Clarke had a point but I do think the problem is at national level. The ordinary club footballer is way down the list of priorities.

It is a National level problem too alright. Galway Hurling final was only played last week. Wexford didn't have a team in Leinster Club football this year as the championship wasn't complete and neither did Tipperay in Munster Club football either. The Tipperay final is this Sunday 21st of December.

Too much focus on the County teams.

The Galway hurling final was down to a club appealing after been thown up over an illegal player. Portumna were in the final and the mess of quarter final had to be sorted out. Portumna were happy as they went a long period without a competitive game.
