U8 Boys - Laragh tournament

Congratulations to our Under 8 squad which was victorious in the inaugural Laragh tournament with victories over Laragh, Lavey and Killinkere and a draw against Drung. We ended up playing Killinkere in the final, winning by a margin of 7-3. Well done lads - future stars in the Killygarry Red and Black!

Senior Ladies Final for Killygarry venue

Killygarry was the venue for this year's county Senior Ladies Championship final between Lurgan and Mullahoran last Saturday. Thanks to everybody who helped out on the day.

All-Ireland Ticket Draw

Congratulations to Seamus McGovern, Drumoghera who was the winner of the 2 All-Ireland Final tickets and €500 spending money in our All-Ireland draw fundraiser. Hope you enjoyed it, Seamus. He's one of our most loyal supporters over the years. Thanks to all our ticket sellers and everyone who bought tickets for the draw. The draw was also made for five "pay per view" All-Ireland Final tickets and the winners were Barry McGovern, Brendan Murray, Ryan Brady, Emmett Blaney and Mattie King.

Ladies Scene

Underage competitions are ramping up again in the Ladies section of the Club. The U12s got as far as the semi-final in their competition. The U14s lost the long-awaited replay of their Championship final against Castlerahan/Denn last week. The U15s started their championship campaign with wins against Crosserlough and Kingscourt. The U19s had a bye in the first round of their championship - their first game away to Cavan Gaels was postponed until 18/09.

Minor Men

Our Minor Men are competing in the Minor B Championship along with Annalee Gaels, Blackwater Gaels, West Cavan Gaels, Kingscourt, Belturbet, Lough Uachtar Gaels, Mullahoran, Castlerahan, Maghera and Denn. All teams will play four games on a league basis similar to this year's Senior Championship but only the top four will qualify for the semi-finals. We lost our recent games to Maghera, Kingscourt and Mullahoran.

Senior Men

In the Championship, wins over Gowna and Cuchulainns were followed by an unlucky defeat to Lacken. But the team bounced back in style with a convincing win over Kingscourt in Bailieboro to qualify comfortably for the quarter-finals. After the recent play-offs, our opponents in the quarter-final were Kingscourt again in Kingspan Breffni last week. We lost by a point this time, so hard luck lads.

Senior Reserve Men

The Reserves face Cootehill in the Reserve Championship final which hasn't been fixed yet. Best of luck lads.

U14 Boys

Our U14 Boys are in Division 2 (Group 1) for this year's Championship. Other teams in our group are Cavan Gaels, Cootehill and Crosserlough. They won their first game against Crosserlough and Cavan Gaels. We also have a team in Division 5 along with Ballinagh, Kildallan, Crosserlough, Castletara St Patrick's, Shercock and Cuchulainns. They won their first game against Castletara but have lost since to Kildallan and Ballinagh. They play Crosserlough away this Sunday.

Tom Coyle Memorial Tournament

The annual Tom Coyle Memorial Tournament for Under 8s takes place this year on Saturday 30th September. First games start at 10.00 AM. Eight teams have been confirmed - Killygarry x2, Cavan Gaels, Castlerahan, Laragh, Crosserlough, Mullahoran and Butlersbridge. Should be a good fun morning. More details closer to the date.

Last Man Standing fundraiser

Thanks to John Conroy who kindly set up a Last Man Standing competition as a fundraiser for the Club. The competition involved prediction of Premiership weekly results. It started a few weeks ago and we had 58 entries. Thanks to everyone who joined. Well done to Enda Gallen who came out of the pack to be the last man standing this week and took the €250 prize.

Killykickers

Killykickers are back, starting again at 9.15 AM - 10.30 AM this Saturday (and every Saturday) in Cavan Sports Complex main hall for 4-6 year-old boys and girls. There are plenty of challenging fun activities - warm-ups, target games, ABC (Ability, Balance & Co-ordination). We recognise that this may be the kids' first experience of sport. These specially-developed games and programmes are conducted in a fun and safe environment. It's also an opportunity to make new friends and be part of a club. For any enquiries, contact Padraig on 0872804961.

Learning to Run

Peter Walsh and his team have organised kids running classes every Monday and Wednesday on the walking track between 6.10 PM and 7.00 PM. The classes will promote proper running techniques, improve fitness, be non-competitive and (most important of all) they will be fun. Any enquiries to Peter on 087 1038202.
