All Ireland Fleadh Ennis....As usual Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann was a massive success once again in Ennis with an abundance of music, song, dance and storytelling.  Congratulations and well done to local storyteller Eamon Maguire who achieved 3rd place in the Storytelling Competition.  Hard luck to Jessica Smith who represented Cavan and Ulster in the Banjo competition but wasn't successful on the day. 

Congratulations to all the Cavan winners who were successful this year at the All Ireland Fleadh.

Well Done Jack...Congratulations and well done to local National Hunt Jockey Jack Hogan son of Kate and Mick Hogan Drumcrow who had his first major race as an amateur Jockey when on the Wednesday of the famed Galway festival he had a mount in one of the big races for his trainer Denis Hogan Cloughjordan Tipperary run over the famed Ballybrit racecourse. This was a fantastic achievement for Jack and his Family who were all present on the day to watch him in action and we sincerely wish him well for the future in what no doubt can be a tough and uncompromising career. Jack was a great underage footballer for the Reds and played up until U14 Level but for now it is all things Equestrian that are occupying his future....

Upcoming Events...Corliss National School 150th Anniversary and Reunion.. A reunion of past pupils, teachers and friends of Corliss National School will take place on Saturday 2nd September 2017. . If people have old photos or memorabilia from their time in the school we are hoping to put these on display on the day. Dog Show And Field Day....On Sunday 27th August Peadar McSeain and his Committee will once again host their Annual Dog show and Field day on the grounds of Cornafean G F C. at 3 p.m. This is always a great Family day out with lots of novelty events and the Dog show been the highlight of the occasion.All in aid of the very worthy charity Self Help Africa so please come out and enjoy the fun and support a good cause.

CLUB NOTES

Cornafean GFC ...The lads were defeated by Drumalee on Friday evening last in the ACFL Division 2.  Hopefully the team will fair out better this coming Sunday when they take on Redhills in Round 4 of the Intermediate Championship.  Best of luck to the lads.

Ladeis Junior Championship... Well done to the ladies on a comprehensive semi final victory over Shercock on Saturday afternoon in Terry Coyle park.  They will now play Bridgewater Gaels (Mountnugent/Munterconnaught) in the Final to be played on 3rd September in Breffni Park.

U12 Boys...Hard luck to the U12 boys who were narrowly defeated by Cootehill in the Semi Final on Tuesday evening last.
