Cornafean GAA Club Notes

July 24, 2017

Sympathy

The sympathies of the community are extended to the Bryson and Good families on the sudden passing of Florence Bryson in Cornafean on Wednesday morning last.  Florence from Englad was married to George Bryson formerly Drumbess and the couple regularly returned home each summer to visit family and friends in the Drumbess, Killeshandra and Cornafean areas.  As well as her husband George, Florence is survived by her two daughers and two sons in England to whom we also express our sympathies.

Sympathy

Sincere sympathy is also expressed to the McCann family Milltown on the passing of a beloved husband and Father Seamus.  Seamus was bron in Drumbess, Cornafean many years ago and did attend Coronea N.S. for a time before eventually moving away from the area as a young man but Seamus never forgot his roots and liked to return to Drumbess and Cornafean which he did on so many times in recent years and his good  friend and first cousin, the late Sean Fitzpatrick often drove him around the area.  Seamus passed away peacefully after an illness bravely borne and he was laid to rest in Drumlane Cemetery.  Seamus is survived by his wife Carmel and four sons.

Football update....It was a disappointing week for both the Senior Men and Reserve teams with defeats to Bailieboro and Killinkere respectively.  Best of luck to the senior lads as they commence their  2017 Intermediate Championship campaign on this Sunday 30th July with a difficult feature against Shercock to be played in Virignia at 3.30 p.m.  Better news on the Juvenile front with a great win for the U14 boys in the Division 4 League Final against Naoimh Brid played in Ballyhaise on Saturday last and the Senior ladies kept up their recent good run of form with a comprehensive win over Lavey in the Division 3 League.
