CLUB NOTES

ACFL Division 2 - Cornafean 1 - 9   Ballyhaise   0 - 12

Cornafean kept up their good start to the league campaign after playing out a hard fought draw against Ballyhaise in Cornafean on Saturday evening.  Ballyhaise brouhg a new level of pace and power to the exchanges but in fairness the Reds dug deep and worked ever so hard to match their opponents.  The visitors led 9 pts to 6 pts at the break probably a fair reflection of the play with Barry doyle (4), Nially Sheridan (1) and Andrew Smith(1) contributing the Cornafean scores.  When Ballyhaise drew first blood early in the second half to go 4 ahead, Cornfean's heads may have dropped but on the contrary the lads kept at it and found a way back into the game, a goal from Liam Duignan and 3 pts from Barry Doyle, his final one a last second free, gave the Reds a share of the spoils when it looked as if Ballyhaise might snatch the victory.  Even though the visitors were down to thirteen players at the end of the game as a resul of two sendings off, Cornafean who themselves lost some personnel through inury will be happy to have another point on the league table.  Their only regret will be the many missed chances which could have left a different result on the evening  but the overall effort and work ethic from the lads must be commended.

Next up for cornafean in the ACFL Division 2 are Ballymahugh on this Friday evening to be played in Ballymahugh.  Best of luck lads.

Cavan Ladies...Congratulations to Cavan Ladies who had a win over Clare on Sunday in Birr with a fulltime scoreline of Cavan 3-16   Clare 0-11.  The ladies will now face Westmeath in the division 2 final on Sunday 7th May in Parnell Park with 2 p.m. throw in.   Please come out and support the Ladies.
