Cornafean club notes

October 17, 2016

Amy Sheridan R I P. ..The sudden death of Amy Sheridan last week in a  road traffic accident cast a dark shadow over the Lacken/Cornafean area. To her parents Jim and Marie ,her brothers Gary and Shane and the extended Sheridan and Leddy families  the heart felt sympathy of the community goes out to them all on the tragic and sudden loss of their beloved Amy.  .Amy who was twenty five years of age was extremely  popular among her peers while studying in Athlone and also as a staff member in Cavan General  Hospital but it will be her beloved Lacken club where she excelled as a camogie player who will feel her loss the keenest. The huge numbers that turned out to say farewell to Amy bore testament to her popularity and no doubt  this brought  much solace and comfort to the Sheridan and Leddy families . She was laid to rest in Potahee cemetery after requiem mass on Wednesday last. Rest In Peace, Ar dheis De go raibh a h-anam dillis....
ALL Ireland Winner...Congratulations and well done to Michelle Kilkenny Coronea who on the 25th of September last played in goals for the Longford Ladies as they played out a thrilling All Ireland Junior Football final  victory over Antrim in Croke park.  Michelle has played her club football with Dromard for many years and during this time has also been  Longford's top goalkeeper. Like many counties they have had their ups and downs over the last no of years but this recent All  Ireland title is just reward for Michelle and her colleagues for their hard work and persistence..
