Cavan job 'attractive' but not suitable to Horan

Former Mayo boss James Horan has described the vacant Cavan managerial position as "attractive" but doesn't feel it would be suitable given the logistics.

Horan, who won three Connacht SFC titles during his tenure with the Westerners, is one of a number of high-profile managers to be linked with the Breffni post since Terry Hyland stepped down last week after four-and-a-half years in charge.

Speaking to The Anglo-Celt newspaper this week, the Ballintubber clubman described it as "an inviting job" for any manager but given that he's based in Castlebar he doesn't feel it would be suitable to him.

"When you see any job coming up you'd always look at it but I don't know how practical it would be from where I am," said Horan.

"It'd be an inviting job for someone obviously from the point of view of all the U21 success and the calibre of player that there is in Cavan but I don't think it's practical from where I am.

"I haven't thought too much about it (a return to management) to be honest, I have no major plans to go back into managing right now.

"I'm doing a bit of media work. Coaching is where the real fun is but again, I just don't know how practical it would be (in Cavan)."
