The Lavey Inn League Final

Dernacrieve Gaels v Cavan Gaels next Friday evening in Ballyconnell at 7:30pm, please show your full support for this brilliant bunch of under 16 players and their coaches. These boys are a credit to our communities and have the height of respect for each other, they work as a team and their motto is no one man wins games on his own. Best of luck lads.

La na gClub

Many thanks to everyone that turned out last Sunday week to make our La na gClub a wonderful success, it was great to see so many old GAA friends returning to us and to see so many young children of the parish joining in the fun.  Thanks to Kieran McGovern for refereeing the match.  The talent and skills of the Upper Corlough team was evident from the get go and they came our victorious on the day and was presented with the Peter Heavey cup by Peters daughter Martina Maguire. Thanks to Tommy McCormack from Ballinamore who made a wonderful restoration job on the cup.  Hugh McGovern's speech was uplifting and moving and delved deep in to the history books.  We are so grateful to Brendan Dolan for all his work leading up to the weekend, and to Paddy for his continues dedication to the club. Thanks to the ladies that made sandwiches and treats, we were very lucky to have our very own 3 star Mitchelin chef Noel McGovern on duty on Sunday, Noel done a wonderful job on providing the crowd with a beautiful barbecue.  The tree was planted by the oldest member of our club Paddy Duffy and the youngest member Stephen Dolan.  Children let off balloons and a time capsule was planted.  The children entertained us with song and music and Sinead Archbold sang Amhran na bhFiann.  Finally we were entertained by live music in Feehans and we thank Sean & Mary for their support as usual.  We have no doubt that there is plenty of skill in Lower Corlough but roll on next year when Upper Corlough will be aiming for 2 in a row. Watch our Corlough GAA Facebook page for photos.

 Sympathy

We extend our sympathy to Timmy & Eilish Winters and family on the untimely death of their son and brother Willie.  Timmy has always been very obliging to us anytime we asked for his help, and we hope they all find strength and courage at this very difficult time.
