Championship Draw:
The draw for the 2016 Cavan Senior Championship was made recently. The Championship will be structured in group stages with four groups of four and each team playing each other once. The top two from each group will qualify for the quarter final stage with the bottom team going in a relegation play off where they will play the other three bottom teams of the other groups. There will then be a playoff scenario and three teams will be relegated from Senior to the Intermediate championship for 2017. Ballinagh have been drawn in group 4 with Ramor United, Mullahoran and Denn. The Championship is due to commence at the end of July and Mickey Harkin's side are already in full preparation as they look to recapture the Oliver Plunkett Cup that they famously won in 2013.

Cavan:
Almost the entire population of the Breffni county descended on Croke Park on Sunday last to cheer on the boys in blue in the NFL Division 2 decider. In what was a game filled with quality play and excitement Cavan fell short against a strong Tyrone side on a score line of 1-17 to 0-15. Terry Hyland and his men have given hope to the Cavan masses, after a fantastic league campaign in which promotion to Division 1 was achieved, that the future is indeed Blue. Cavan will now look to the end of May and the business end of the season when they will square off against rivals Armagh in the first round of the Ulster championship. We wish Niall and Thomas all the best for the upcoming championship campaign and let's hope they and fit and firing. Another Cavan side which has done the county proud in the league is the Cavan Ladies, after putting up a brave fight against promotion favourites Donegal in Co. Tyrone on Saturday they unfortunately were beaten at the semi-final stage. They too now look to prepare for the upcoming Championship and will look to build on the fantastic momentum they have been gathering in the last few year in the ladies GAA circles.
