'It will probably have that feel of a championship game'

Tyrone's Sean Cavanagh

Tyrone stalwart Sean Cavanagh expects Sunday's Division Two final clash with Cavan to a championship feel about it.

Mickey Harte's side take on the Breffni men at Croke Park (throw-in 1.30pm) and Cavanagh is predicting an intense encounter against their Ulster counterparts, with silverware on the line ahead of the summer's championship.

"Any chance you get to go out in Croke Park this early in the season is good for everyone involved," Cavanagh told The Irish News.

"It's going to be a serious test, obviously. Cavan probably have been the standout team in Division Two in terms of some of the scores they've been putting up. I know we obviously finished maybe top of the division, but Cavan's performance against Armagh in particular was probably the stand-out result. You don't see too many teams beating Armagh, let alone by 17 points, so I think Cavan are on a five-game unbeaten run and that's something that's going to give us a serious test on Sunday week.

"It's something we have to welcome because there's no point going to Celtic Park having not been fully put to the pin of our collar. Cavan did that to us up in Omagh in the first game of the league, but that seems a wee bit far away now.

"Both teams will be more similar to what they'll be looking to start with in the Championship. I think it will probably have that feel of a championship game."
