Our sympathies are extended to Padie McKiernan and family Corr, Cornafean on the death of Padie's sister Patsy in Ballyjamesduff during the week.  Also to Caroline Burns, Drumbess on the death of her father Frank Donohoe, Gortemone, Carrigallen.  May both the deceased rest in peace.

Scor Success - Well done to the four items from Cornafean GFC which qualified for the County Finals of Junior Scor which took place in Killeshandra on Saturday evening last.  The four disciplines were Leitriu, Ballad Group, Instrumental music and Set dancing and all acts gave excellent performances in a very competitive and entertaining county final.  Congratulations to the Ballad group of Anna Tully, Amy O'Reilly, Deirbhile & Brianna McCaffrey who beautifully sang their way to a county title and will now represent Cavan in the Ulster Semi Finals to be held this Saturday 21st November in Killeavy, Co. Armagh at 7 p.m.

CORNAFEAN CLUB NOTES

Breffni All Stars - Well done to Barry Doyle on being chosen for the 2015 Breffni All Stars team of the year.  Barry had an outstanding summer for the Reds culminating in a great performance in Breffni Park against Templeport in the Junior Final when he kicked eight glorious points.  Please support Barry and his family at the Breffni All Stars Awards Banquet to be held in the Hotel Kilmore on this Friday night 20th November 2015.  Tickets are €50 and available from the Club Officers.

CAVAN LADIES CELEBRATION

A celebration of  Cavan Ladies Football will take place in Crover House Hotel on Saturday night 28th November with special guests the 2015 U14 All Ireland winning team and management.  Two Cornafean ladies Deirbhile McCaffrey and Aine Brady will be receiving their Ulster and All Ireland winners medals after a very successful 2015.  Tickets for the gala event are available from Patricia King Lacken and Cavan Ladies Co. Board and all support for Deirbhile and Aine on the night would be appreciated.

Ladies sponsorship -  On behalf of Cornafean Ladies Club a huge thank you to Art McSeain, McSeains Lounge, Cornafean and Rita Martin, Solicitor  on their very generous sponsorship of new hoodies and t-shirts for all age groups within the club.  The recently launched new Ladies club crescent will be on the new gear.

At the time of going  to press there has been no confirmation of when and where the eagerly awaited promotion play off between Drung and Cornafean will take place but no doubt the county board will be fixing the match for sooner rather than later.  Drung defeated the reds by one point in Kill on last Sunday week played in atrocious conditions but the team and  management  will be confident of overturning this result when they once again do battle for the prize of Division 2 football for 2016.  Hard luck to the U21 team who where comprehensively beaten by Laragh in the championship on Saturday night on the 3G and also to the U16 ladies who also lost out in their Division 2 championship encounter against a very strong Lurgan squad.
