Hyland to continue with Cavan

Cavan manager Terry Hyland

Terry Hyland has signalled his intention to stay on for a fourth year as manager of the Cavan senior footballers.

The Breffni County suffered championship defeats to Monaghan (Ulster SFC) and Roscommon (All-Ireland SFC qualifiers) but, speaking to The Irish News, Hyland stated: "Well, put it this way, we have discussed it among the management and we probably will stay on for the last year.

"We still have a year to run."

The Cavan Management Committee gave Hyland the green light to continue on Monday night and he revealed that he has the backing of the players.

"I spoke to them. They wanted us to stay on.

"They felt themselves that we were only a kick of the ball away from beating Monaghan and who knows what would have happened after that."
