Féile Peile na nÓg

Congratulations to our under-14s who reached the semi-finals of the national Féile competition last week-end. They got off to an ideal start on Friday last against their hosts Michael Davitts with a 5-5 to 1-1 victory. In round two later that evening they were defeated by Coralstown-Kinnegad in a low-scoring game by 0-4 to 0-1! On Saturday they got back to winning ways in round three with a 3-3- to 0-1 win against Castletown. In the quarter-final they met Castleblayney Faughs and overcame them on a scoreline of 3-4 to 1-3. Their opponents in the semi-final were the Longford champions Killoe who have had an excellent recent under-age pedigree in their county. They proved too strong for our players and they ran out winners by 2-8 to 1-2. It was a great adventure for these players. Well done also to the management and to all those who travelled to the south east to support the team. The memories should last a long time. Thanks to all those who supported the race night and to those who fundraised in any other way for this prestigious event.

Bingo

Please note the change of venue- our bingo on Friday next 26 June will be in the TOWN HALL at 9pm. Thanks to our bingo patrons for their consistent support and to all our stewards. Our club lotto is on sale at bingo every Friday night.

Minor League

Our minors had an away game against St Joseph's in the minor league recently. Despite some impressive displays from our players, the greater all-round strength of the opposition gave them the spoils. Our minors have an away game against Ballyhaise on Tuesday 30 June at 7.30pm. Please support.

Golf Classic

Golfers within the club are asked to note that our annual golf classic will take place in County Cavan Golf Club on Friday 10 July. Teams of 4  €160, tee sponsorship €50. There will be a meal for each participant. If you have a team for this event or want to help out in any way please contact Joe Johnston or J.J. Reilly. Book early to guarantee your desired tee-off time. There will be many extra prizes on offer. It is hoped that many of those who played in our classic in the past will again take part this year. This year's golf classic is again kindly sponsored by Donal Keogan, The Imperial Lounge. Buíochas dó.

Our final first round game is away to Gowna on Monday 13 July. Thanks to the management for their work with these players.

Cavan will now play Derry in the Ulster minor final in Clones on Sunday 19 July. We wish them well along with Fintan Carolan as they strive to regain the provincial title.
