Reserve Division 3 Championship : There were jubilent scenes on Saturday evening last where Cornafean captured the divison 3 Reserve Championship title over rivals Kill. Cornafean played with a stiff breeze in the first half and it took Cian Geoghegan until the seventh minute to open the Cornafean scoreline. With Brian Doyle and Val Sheridan winning the battle in the middle of the field there were numerous opurtunities however  the wind had its own ideas.  Liam Duignan played an outstanding game both scoreing and making numerous runs at the Kill defense. Jack Wharton , Andrew Smith and Adrian Caffrey were the main fireing power up front. It has to be said that both sides missed numerous oppurtunities, however when Andrew Smith got his chance he  tucked it into the back of the net.  The half time score was 1-06 to 0-05 with Kill having the wind in the second half. Kill started to come back at Cornafean however with good defensive play from Andrew Wharton, Ciaran Duignan and Jason Miney it kept the scores close. Wayne Johnston and  Davis Egan made numerous runs up the line to keep Cornafean in the game. However  the second half was left to the last man in defense Andrew Johnston who saved a penalty to lift the Reds, and with Eamon Gaffney and Dan Wharton imposing their authority on the game  the Reds went on to score two more points , one from James McGaheran and the other from   Liam Duignan. The score at the end was Cornafean 1-09 Kill 0-06. Joint captains Andrew Smith and Paddy Brady thanked everyone on a great team performance and thanked everyone for all their hard work during the presentation of the cup. Well done to all involved.
