Seniors

Our seniors suffered their first Division 2 League promotion defeat of the season last Saturday evening when Arva came away from Rory O'Moore Park with a 2-8 to 2-4 victory. Arva got off to a great start in the first half bagging 1-1 in the opening three minutes with a Conal Sheridan free and a goal from Jonny McCabe. John Cahill got Belturbet up and running with a fifth minute point before Conal Sheridan tagged on another free in the 12th minute to leave Arva 1-2 to 0-1 ahead. Enda Henry and Niall Lawlor scored a point apiece  in the 18th minute and 21st minutes to leave the Rory's trailing by 1-2 to 0-3. Conal Sheridan landed his third point from a free on the stroke of half time to leave Arva with a 1-3 to 0-3 half time lead. Arva raced out of the traps at the start of the second half with two points from Kevin Bouchier and a point apiece from Brian Ellis and a Conal Sheridan free giving them a 1-7 to 0-3 lead seven minutes into the second period. Conal Sheridan scored a vital goal for Arva in the 49th minute to complete his personal haul of 1-4 to leave it 2-7 to 0-3. Jonny McCabe's point in the 52nd minute left it 2-8 to 0-3. Brendan Fitzpatrick got the Rory's first point of the second half in the 56th minute and two late penalties were tucked away by Niall Lawlor to ensure that the lads only fell to a four point defeat. Senior team v Arva: Danny Anscombe, Mark Lawlor, Peter Shannon, Shane Fitzpatrick, Niall O'Reilly, Kevin McConnell, John Cahill(0-1), Eoin McGuigan, Damien O'Reilly, Cian Vaughan, Enda Henry(0-1), Barry O'Reilly, Stuart Dunne, Niall Lawlor(2-1 2 pens), Brendan Fitzpatrick(0-1). Our seniors final league game of the year is away to Laragh in Stradone this Sunday October 26th at 1pm. Our seniors will most likely face our neighbours Drumlane in  a play-off match to determine who gets promoted to Division 1B.

Senior Ladies
Congratulations to the senior ladies on their magnificent achievement in winning the Division 2 League title in convincing style. In tough windy conditions in Dr.Plunkett Park, Kilnaleck on Saturday last, the girls held only a one point lead over Knockbride at half time, but a superb second half performance notably Sarah Murray who netted three goals saw them run out 4-10 2-5 winners. This is a great achievement for the club who will now play both Division 1 football and Senior Championship in 2015. Saturday's victory seen the girls bring home their fourth cup in 12months. Great credit must go to all the girls for working so hard, and of course to Pat, Brendan & Mark. Well done everyone.
