Mullahoran and Ballinagh set to take place on Sunday

Castlerahan's Paul Brady

Castlerahan will not bring an appeal over their Cavan SFC third round defeat by Mullahoran to the Disputes Resolution Authority.

The club objected to the result after claiming that a sufficient amount of time wasn't played in the first-half of extra-time before a flood light failure at Kingspan Breffni Park.

It is thought that around eight and a half minutes of the mandatory 10 were played when referee Tony Gregory was forced to call half-time after the lights went out, with Castlerahan leading by 2-9 to 1-11. They would go on to lose the game by a single point after the lights came back on for the second-half, following a 15-minute delay, and were thought to be determined to pursue all avenues in an effort to overturn the result.

However, after having their case thrown out by Cavan county board and the Ulster Council, the decision to not bring the appeal to Croke Park, which was to cost €1,000 in a deposit and potentially more if they were unsuccessful, is understood to have been taken at a club meeting last night (Tuesday).

The SFC quarter-final fixture between Mullahoran and Ballinagh will now take place this Sunday night at Kingspan Breffni Park (throw-in 7.00pm).
