Senior Championship
Well done to our seniors who had a convincing quarter-final victory over Lacken in the championship replay on Friday night last. Two goals before half time eased us ahead and gave us the platform for ultimate victory. In the open semi-final draw, we have been drawn against Cuchullains again. Best of luck to all concerned.
Under-10s
Well done to our under-10s who like the under-8s won the Drumlane tournament recently. A word of thanks to the management team of Mark McNamara and Fergal Maguire for all their work with this panel of players. Thanks to the Drumlane club for their invitation to take part in their under-8 and under-10 tournaments and for their hospitality. Míle buíochas.
Under-8s
Well done also to our under-8s who, having won all their five games in the Drumlane tournament recently, took home the trophy. Well done to the players and to the management team of Paul McKiernan, Doc Smith and Brendan Connolly for all their work with these players. Comhghairdeas.
John Fee Day
Our annual John Fee Day took place in Terry Coyle Park on Saturday last. A series of games took place for our under-8, under-10 and under-12 boys and for our under-12 girls. Stalwart Cavan Gaels supporter Mick McCarthy presented the Brother Cyril Plaque for under-8 boys to Bobbie Hanley. The John Fee Memorial Cup for under-10 boys was presented to Favor Shehu by Kathleen Fee. Terence (Doc) Smith presented the Hughie Smith Memorial Cup for the under-12 boys, in memory of his father, to Lucas McDermott, and the Ruairí Dunne Memorial Cup for the under-12 girls was presented by Fergal Dunne, brother of Ruairí, to Aiveen Sexton. All the participants in the games received a specially inscribed medal. The medals were presented by various members of the Cavan Gaels senior football team. There were many other activities throughout the morning- three-legged races, rounders, egg and spoon races, face painting. The cake sale as usual proved to be very popular and those in charge of the barbecue were kept busy! Brisk business was done also at the merchandise stand. Thanks to all who brought items for the cake sale, to those who organised and refereed the games, to those who co-ordinated the face painting, to those who were at the burger stand and the cake sale stall. Thanks to Mark Leddy in particular who co-ordinated the day's activities. This day has become a very important occasion in the club calendar. Ní neart go cur le chéile. Is ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.
Under-14
Our under-14s meet Castlerahan in Terry Coyle Park in the next round of the under-14 championship. Best of luck to them.
