GAA : Cornafean played Butlersbridge on Good Friday evening in Killeshandra in the ACFL league. It was nip and tuck down to the last 5 minutes where Cornafean edged ahead with a few points to spare. This Friday evening April 25th sees Cornafean take on Knockbride in Cornafean at 7.30pm in the league.

Death of Brid Donohoe, (nee Kilkenny) : The sudden and tragic death of Brid Donohoe, nee Kilkenny has shocked and saddened the entire area. She was the youngest daughter in a family of six boys and three girls of the late Edward and Anna May Kilkenny Coronea.

An extremely creative and talented person, Brid had worked for sometime in the Anglo Celt and later in the Boutique and Jewellery business. She was a natural leader, involved in all activities in the Coronea and Cornafean area. She played camogie for many years but she will be best remembered as the majorette in the Cornafean Marching band. She was also a leader in the Cornafean Foroige Club. Brid was very well liked and her smile and charm will be missed by everyone. Her former comrades in the Cornafean Marching band formed a guard of honour at her funeral.

Sincere sympathy is extended to her family, brothers J.P., Pat, Eamon, Sean, Aidan and Terry her sisters Margaret and Patricia, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and her extended family. Her funeral on Holy Thursday in the Church of The Immaculate Conception Coronea, was one of the largest ever seen in the area and showed the esteem in which her family are held. Rev Donald Hannon officiated and was the chief Concelebrant.
