Killian Clarke is hoping history will repeat itself when Cavan and Donegal go head-to-head in tonight's Ulster U-21 FC final at the Athletic Grounds.
It's a repeat of last year's decider as the Breffni County go in search of their fourth provincial success in-a-row and Clarke told the Irish Independent: "There's a great rivalry there. We were probably lucky enough to win that game last year.
"Ryan McHugh went off injured in the first couple of minutes and I'd say Donegal still have a bee in their bonnet about the result, so fingers crossed we can pull through."
The success of the U-21s has injected a new lease of life into Cavan GAA and the county is 'buzzing' at the minute according to the young defender.
"The week of an Ulster final, everyone has a pep in their step.
"Cavan is buzzing. Last summer, you found yourself walking down the street and people recognise you.
"That would never have been part and parcel with being a Cavan player before. It has been brought to the next level in terms of status."
Once tonight's Athletic Grounds clash is done and dusted, Clarke will turn his attention to the senior team and their upcoming FL3 final against Roscommon.
"A short-term goal for the seniors is to win the league final and keep the unbeaten run going.
"I played my first three games with the senior panel in the National League.
"The whole team understands my point of view with the U-21s. Most of them would have been in the same situation, so they know the commitment that we put in."
