NHL 4: Fermanagh edge out neighbours

March 14, 2010
Fermanagh 2-14
Cavan 2-12

Fermanagh kept their promotion bid alive yesterday after edging out Cavan by two points at St Mary's Park, Maguiresbridge.

Cavan started the game in superb fashion with their new marksman Bernard Gaffney hitting 1-6 in the opening quarter to send them eight points clear. It was around that time when the hosts received their wake-up call and narrowed down the difference via scores from Paul McGoldrick and Sean Corrigan.

Fermanagh picked up where they left off at the end of the first-half after the restart and lashed in goals through the lethal duo of McGoldrick and Corrigan up front to move four points in front.

Gaffney, who finished with 2-11, pounced for his second Cavan goal to keep the visitors in the hunt for the points, but scores from Shea Curran and the superb McGoldrick down the other end made sure of a home win.
