Flanagan takes up Breffni armband
Cavan's Ronan Flanagan
08 April 2009
Tommy Carr has handed the Cavan senior team captaincy to Ronan Flanagan for the rest of the 2009 season.
The 22-year-old Castlerahan man has been in impressive form in this year's National Football League for the Breffni County, playing in both defence and attack, and takes up the new role from Mark McKeever, who last held the armband on a full-time basis in 2008.
Since that time Carr has tried out numerous players in the skipper role but has decided to go with Flanagan, who has had considerable experience for his age, representing Ireland in the Under 17 International Rules series and winning a Sigerson Cup medal in his first year with DCU.
