Brady confident Breffni young guns can step up

Cavan's Killian Brady holds possession from Mayo's Kevin McLoughin

Cavan defender Killian Brady reckons the Blues will be able to cope without the services of three of their best next year.

Killian Clarke has ruled out any involvement with the Breffni men in 2020, while Dara McVeety and Conor Moynagh will be unavailable to manager Mickey Graham until the summer at least as they go travelling.

Speaking to The Irish News, Mullahoran man Brady feels that the players are there within the squad to fill the void.

“Between the McKenna Cup and the (National) League now it’s up to us to find someone who’s going to replace them,” he said.

“It’s obviously no mean feat to try and do that, but there’s lads willing there and looking to get that extra bit out of themselves.

“We’ve a management team and a strength and conditioning team there who are constantly challenging us and looking for us to challenge ourselves, so that’s why it’s about building our squad and developing our style of play.

“I’ve no doubt there’s lads there who can do it.”

Cavan open their new campaign tomorrow afternoon when they host Armagh at Kingspan Breffni (throw-in 2pm) in the first round of the Dr McKenna Cup.
