The Munster SHC lived up to its billing once again while Dublin came from behind to nick a point off Wexford. Elsewhere, it was business as usual for the Cats and Westmeath recorded a famous victory over Offaly in the Joe McDonagh Cup…
1. Brian Hogan (Tipperary)
Kept a clean sheet as Tipperary scored an impressive 18-point success over visitors Waterford.
2. Cathal Barrett (Tipperary)
Barrett and his defensive colleagues can be satisfied with their afternoon’s work in Semple Stadium.
3. Eoin Cadogan (Cork)
Proved his doubters wrong with a ‘man-of-the-match’ display as the Rebels lowered the colours of the reigning All-Ireland and league champions.
4. Eoghan O’Donnell (Dublin)
Consistency personified in the Dublin defence as Mattie Kenny’s men salvaged a draw in the most dramatic of circumstances.
5. Ronan Maher (Tipperary)
Made the scoresheet with two points - one of which arrived from a sublime sideline cut.
6. Shaun Murphy (Wexford)
The industrious Murphy operated to good effect around the middle third of the field, shooting three points, before dropping back to act as sweeper.
7. Mark Coleman (Cork)
Rumours of Cork’s demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated judging by the performance of Coleman & Co at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.
8. Bill Cooper (Cork)
Cooper and his midfield partner Darragh Fitzgibbon played instrumental roles in laying the foundations for John Meyler’s side’s seven-point success.
9. Michael Breen (Tipperary)
Waterford couldn’t handle the free-scoring Breen who finished with six points to his name.
10. Daniel Kearney (Cork)
Kearney contributed four points to his team’s winning tally of 1-26.
11. Lee Chin (Wexford)
Chin was a constant thorn in the side of the Dublin defence and top scored for the Model County with 0-11.
12. Jason Forde (Tipperary)
The Silvermines clubman ran the Waterford defence ragged in a ‘man-of-the-match’ display which yielded 1-9.
13. Patrick Horgan (Cork)
The ‘man-of-the-match’ silverware went to Eoin Cadogan but ‘Hoggie’ would have featured heavily in the debate after his haul of 1-9.
14. Killian Doyle (Westmeath)
Scorer of 1-12 (1-6 from play), Doyle was unmarkable as the Lake County heaped further misery on Offaly in Mullingar.
15. TJ Reid (Kilkenny)
The Ballyhale Shamrocks ace continued his rich vein of scoring form with a return of 1-12 against the Barrowsiders.
