Cavan county board will sit down with senior football manager Mattie McGleenan "in the next couple of weeks" to review the Breffni men's 2018 campaign.

McGleenan's two-year term officially came to an end last Saturday evening in Enniskillen when the Blues exited the All-Ireland SFC by virtue of their Round 3 qualifier defeat to Tyrone.

Speaking after the game, McGleenan stated his desire to remain in charge of Cavan for 2019 but acknowledged that the decision wasn't his to make.

"The chairman will sit down with Mattie in the next couple of weeks to review the year and see where it goes from there," PRO Mark O'Rourke confirmed to The Anglo-Celt this week.

Having suffered relegation from Division 1 in his first season in charge, McGleenan steered Cavan to promotion back to the topflight this past spring.

However, the defeat to his native county last weekend at Brewster Park means his championship record with the team stands at four losses (Monaghan, Tipperary, Donegal and Tyrone) and three victories (Offaly, Wicklow and Down).
