Sympathy

We extend the sympathies of the community to Kathleen McGahern, Cordownan, on the death of her brother Benny Reilly, Derries, Loughduff in New York last week.  Mass for him will be celebrated in Loughduff Chapel on this Thursday 22nd March at 7 p.m.

Scór Success: Congratulations to the Cornafean Table Quiz team who were victorious in the Scór Sinséar Table Quiz in Hotel Kilmore last Thursday night. They will now represent Cavan in the All Ireland Final in Sligo on 14th April. The team were Tommy McGibney, Michael Dinenney, Martin Maguire and Paddy McDermott.

Best of luck to our neighbours Killeshandra who will dance in the Rince Foirne section of Scór Sinséar Ulster Final next Saturday 24th March in Silverbridge, Co Armagh.

Date for your Diary - Your Townlands Needs You

The Cornafean Ladies are running "The Fittest Townland" with Family Funday on Saturday 26th May.  Lots of time to get in training for this coveted title!  More details to follow.

 

 

Fundraiser for Oscar

Fundraiser Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva this Friday night 23rd March at 9 p.m. ...Table Quiz to help raise funds for Oscar Cullen, son of Sophie and Enda Cullen, Coronea, Arva and also to help the charitable organisations that have supported him including Epilepsy Ireland, Enable Ireland, Jack & Jill, Buddy Bear Trust, Holy Family School.

Cavan Ladies Fundraiser

Battle of the Clubs Strictly Come Dancing Fundraiser.....On Good Friday Jemma Wilson and Jason Miney will represent Coranfean in the Cavan Ladies Strictly Come Dancing and would like your support.  Tickets are €20 and can be got from Jemma or Jason or contacting any of the Cornarfean Ladies Committee.  A great night not to be missed.

 

Longford Swimming Club....Congratulations to the Sharks Squad swimmer, Lucy Hogan, Drumcrow, who has made the shortlist for the Irish Junior Tetrathlon Squad.  Tetrathlon is a mixture of swimming, horse riding, running and shooting.  Well done Lucy, fantastic achievement.

 

The Latin School Players

Wish to present their play "Nobody's Talking To Me" by Tommy Marren in the Latin School, Moyne Community Centre on Sunday 1st April, Monday 2nd April, Friday 6th April, Saturday 7th April and Sunday 8th April. Tickets can be purchased in Moyne Cross Stores, Corrigans, Lynches of Arva and McSeains of Cornafean.
Tickets cost €10.    For those living outside the area who wish to purchase a ticket you can ring on 086-6038190 or 086-6059069 between 6pm-9pm only.

Wishing the best of luck to local actors Marie Caffrey and Michael McGibney who are part of the cast.   This is a hilarious comedy suitable for both young and old. As per other productions the play starts at 8.30pm sharp.

 

 

Mac Manus Pharmacies, Cavan, Belturbet, Arva and Manorhamilton

are hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of The Irish Cancer Society on Friday next April 23rd Daffodill Day. Why not join us for a coffee/ Tea and some home baking all for a great cause.

Cavan Seniors...Hard luck to Jack and the Cavan Seniors on their narrow 2 point defeat against Roscommon after a tough encounter played in Hyde Park on Sunday last.  We wish the lads the best of luck this weekend against Tipperary and hopefully they can gain promotion back to Division 1.

 

Cornafean 9 a side ladies...Unfortunately all 9 a side games were cancelled last weekend due to weather.  Best of luck to the ladies in the rest of their matches.  The 9 a side league wil recommence this weekend.
