Cornafean club notes

The Late Conor Dinneny, 
Sincere sympathy is extended to the Dinneny family Drumhilla, Killeshandra on the sad and untimely death of their son Conor. Aged just 36 years he had been battling a serious illness for the past year. Conor had emigrated to Sweden some years ago where along with his Swedish born wife Sofia he had made his home. 
He is survived by his wife Sofia, baby daughter Aideen, his parents Michael and Pauline, brothers David and Fergal, sister-in-law Maighred, nephew Tom, aunts, uncles, relatives and his many friends. His funeral was in Sweeden. A memorial mass was held in St Brigids church Killeshandra where an overflowing congregation was able to meet and sympathise with his family. 

Death of Hugh McKiernan 
The death has taken place of Hugh McKiernan Keevey Cornafean. He was in his 84th year and died in Esker Lodge nursing home on last Wednesday 22nd. His funeral was in the church of the immaculate Conception Coronea, with burial after wards in the adjoining cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to his cousins and friends. 

Cornafean Christmas Whist 
The next Cornafean whist drive is due to take place on Monday week the 11th of December and starts at 8.30pm. This will be the Christmas whist for the area with a hamper and extra prizes on the night, please make a special effort to attend. New card players always welcome with supper served.

**Reminder** Please note all the Cornafean GAA supporter sign's at the above locations have been taken down and left under the score board at Pairc Naoimh Fionnain for collection by the owners. Many thanks to to everyones support to the club with their great displays of Signs! 

Scor na nOg...Best of luck to Cornafean Ballad Group who will represent Cavan in the Ulster Semi Final of Scor na nOg in Galbally, Co. Tyrone this Sunday at 3 p.m.  Also best of luck to all the Cavan competitors taking part. 

Scór na nÓg Table Quiz takes place in Hotel Kilmore on Wednesday 13th December at 7.00pm. Please contact Geraldine Duggan, Scór Secretary on 086 8551477 to register. 

Ulster Ladies All Stars.  Huge congratulations to Cornafean Ladies Amy Wharton and Siobhan King who have been nominated in their positions for the Ulster Ladies All Star team of 2017.  This is a massive honour for the girls and the Cornafean ladies Club and is a testament to both Amy and Siobhan's efforts along with their teamates in the Ulster Junior Club Championship of 2017.  We wish both girls the very best of luck.   

Football update...Well done to the U13 boys on their Shield win at the weekend.   Thanks to Pauric and Jack for their hard work and effort in training the team. 

Lough Oughter Gaels...Hard luck to the Cornafean girls and the Lough Oughter Minor team on their defeat at the weekend in the Ulster Minor Semi Final played in  Armagh against Clann Eireann.   

Date for Diary...Cornafean Ladies Club will host their Dinner Dance on 5th January 2018.  More details to follow over the next few weeks.
