Quirke eager to make amends

October 11, 2017

Naomh Eoin joint-manager Tom Quirke knows that they face a tough task in Sunday's county SHC final.

Mount Leinster Rangers provide the opposition and they know a thing or two about winning county titles having been on the winners' podium on a number of occasions since their maiden win in 2006.

Quirke points to this year's results as reason for their optimism as they drew with defending champions St Mullin's and lost to MLR by a single point.

"Sunday is a county final; a huge day for us. Rangers are definitely the top team in the county," Quirke states in this week's Carlow Nationalist.

"I suppose go back to the 2014 final. St Mullin's beat us by a point and went on to win the three-in-a-row. We drew with St Mullin's this year and Rangers beat us by a point. We would be hoping that we are not too far off the mark."
