Carlow manager Turlough O'Brien says his team never got going in their Division Four opener against London.

The hosts slipped to a surprise 2-15 to 0-16 defeat against the Exiles at Dr Cullen Park on Sunday and their manager cut a disconsolate figure afterwards.

"We were second best all over the pitch. Every team is ultra competitive but we did not do ourselves any favours. We made too many mistakes," he told The Nationalist.

"We made a bad start and never recovered," added the Eire Og clubman, who was clearly bitterly disappointed by the result.
