Carlow manager Pat English believes that the county will find it hard to progress unless everyone pulls in the right direction.

English stressed to the Carlow Nationalist that there are people within the county that are turning players against lining out with his side and criticising players that do.

The Barrowsiders must ply their trade in the Christy Ring Cup next year after they lost all three of their Leinster SHC round robin series matches.

And English stressed to the Carlow Nationalist that unless everyone starts getting behind the county team, it will be difficult for them to progress.

"As long as there are club administrators telling players not to go in (to the county) or as long as there is a player who is told he is a disgrace for playing for his county team, Carlow are going to find it very hard to progress," said English.

"I have said what I've said. Let me clarify, it's club administrators. I am not saying it is clubs or club management. There are individuals out there who are telling players not to bother going into the county. Let me be quite clear, it is not the clubs who are standing up to say no."
