Louth, Wicklow, Wexford and Antrim all registered opening round wins in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League.

In the early game at Darver, first half goals from Declan Byrne and Jim McEneaney paved the way for Louth's 2-9 to 0-9 victory over London.

Wicklow survived a late scare to beat Waterford by 0-13 to 1-8 in Aughrim. The visitors had a strong wind to their backs in the first half and led by 1-4 to 0-4 at the break thanks to Patrick Hurney's fisted goal from Paul Whyte's centre. But the excellent free-taking of John McGrath turned the tide in the Garden County's favour in the second half.

However, they had a let-off in the dying moments when the post denied Whyte a winning goal.

In Bellefield, Wexford edged out Leitrim on a 0-14 to 1-10 scoreline. The only goal of the game was scored in the first half by Shane Quinn.

Carlow were the only Leinster team in the division not to win as Antrim defeated them by 1-12 to 0-10 at Netwatch Cullen Park. Kevin Niblock's goal helped the Saffrons to a 1-4 to 0-5 interval lead. Five points from Michael McCann sealed the win against a wasteful home side, who lost the returning Paul Broderick to another injury.

Both teams finished with 14 men after Brendan Murphy (Carlow) and Niall McKeever (Antrim) were involved in a late altercation.
