A former Carlow club footballer received his 1962 football league medal recently.

Ger Farrell lined out for Tullow as they captured the league title all of 53 years ago, but for some reason he never received his medal.

Ger is unsure as to why he didn't receive his medal even though he has been living in the area ever since.

However, he came up with a simple solution to the question when asked by the Carlow Nationalist.

"I mustn't have gone to the presentation night," said Farrell.

St Patrick's club member Chris Murphy revealed that he was given the medal by another club member and then they passed it on to Farrell five decades later.
