English relieved

Ballinkillen manager James English admits they were relieved to find that results went their way in the SHC.

A win over Naomh Eoin was needed and other results had to go their way as Ballinkillen looked to stay in the championship.

And the hurling gods were shining down on them as they leap-frogged Naomh Brid into fourth spot and more importantly a place in the semi-finals.

"It was nerve-wracking. We didn't know whether a draw was going to be good enough but we wanted to win the game," English told the Carlow Nationalist.

"That is what we set out to do from the start. Win this game and see what happened. In fairness we showed a bit of character in the previous game as well when we drew with St Mullins."
