Carlow manager Turlough O'Brien is eager to bring the county forward next year.

The Barrowsiders year came to an end last weekend when Longford defeated them in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Now plans must be put in place for next year and already O'Brien has hinted that he would like to be the one to take the side forward.

Speaking to the Carlow Nationalist, he said: "We have to come back next year and not lose what we have put into it so far. What they have given since the Laois game has been phenomenal."

It's full steam ahead now for the Carlow football and hurling championships, although the under-21 hurlers are still in competitive action.
