Nothing less than a win will suffice for the Carlow hurlers when they face Westmeath in Mullingar on Sunday.
Last weekend's 3-17 to 1-24 defeat to Kerry at Netwatch Cullen Park ended Carlow's unbeaten run and leaves them needing a positive result against an improving Westmeath side, who are now managed by former Waterford boss Michael Ryan, if they are to reach the Division 2A final.
With both teams on six points at the summit of the table, it is a winner-takes-all game. Anything less than a win and the likelihood is that Pat English's men will be overtaken on scoring difference by Kerry and Derry, who are currently one point behind but will be expected to account for London and Wicklow respectively.
