Hickey hails workrate

February 25, 2015

Carlow minor manager Ken Hickey hailed his side's workrate following their impressive win over Cork in the Leinster minor football league.

The Barrowsiders recorded a four-point win over Cork, which was a huge victory for a county that don't get many results against the so-called bigger counties.

Hickey explained to the Carlow Nationalist that this current crop of minors have worked hard and the variation of clubs represented on the side is also something to behold.

"I was delighted with the lads. They worked hard and we have a great mix of lads from clubs around the county. That is key. I have always felt that. They respect each other and work hard."

He added: "We played well but this group of lads have been training well for three months. I think it was more the attitude and the hunger. Maybe Cork were on the bus for three hours, but we deserved our victory."
