Carlow manager Turlough O'Connor is pleased with the start that his side have made to the new campaign.
The Barrowsiders defeated Louth last weekend, which showed a marked improvement on their performances in 2014.
Three games in eight days was a testing time for Carlow, but O'Brien feels that there are many positives to take from the early part of the season.
"Three games in a week is tough, especially after the heavy ground on Wednesday night," O'Brien told the Carlow Nationalist. "That let them back into the game. We should have been 10 or 12 points up at half-time. I'm very pleased.
"We started better than we did on Wednesday night and finished much better than we did on Wednesday night. That can be only good."
