DIT have qualified for the semi-finals of the O'Byrne Cup for the first time after beating IT Carlow 1-12 to 1-9 this afternoon.

The Dublin students will travel to Newbridge next Sunday to face holders Kildare, who romped to a 0-21 to 1-5 win over UCD. In the other semi-final, Meath will host old rivals Dublin, who made it three wins from three when they edged out Laois in Portarlington.

In Group D, Paul Brogan's first half goal helped DIT to their win over fellow students IT Carlow. In the same group, Wexford racked up their second win in four days when defeating Wicklow by 2-15 to 2-11 in Gorey.

Darroch Mulhall shot 0-9 as Kildare easily won their top-of-the-table clash with UCD in Group B. The Lilywhites had led by 0-11 to 1-2 at half-time with Dublin's Ryan Basquel scoring the game's only goal in the 34th minute.

Also in Group B, Carlow recorded a surprise 3-8 to 1-12 win over Louth at Dr Cullen Park. Hugh Gahan and Sean Gannon raised green flags in the first half and Louth's fate was sealed when they conceded an own goal after the restart.

In Group A, Emmet O Conghaile's late point secured a 1-12 to 1-11 victory for Dublin over Laois. The sides were level on 0-6 apiece at half-time before the visitors moved into a 0-10 to 0-7 lead.

A goal from the returning Brendan Quigley edged Laois 1-10 to 0-11 ahead with four minutes remaining, only for Kevin McManamon to reply with a penalty goal. Donie Kingston's seventh point looked to have earned a draw for the struggling O'Moore County before O Conghaile landed the winner.

Offaly completed their Group A campaign with a second win at the expense of an understrength Maynooth University at O'Connor Park. Willie Mulhall's 51st minute helped Pat Flanagan's charges to a facile 1-17 to 0-3 victory.
