Old Leighlin manager Karl O'Dwyer stated that he didn't think they would win so comfortably against Eire Og in the Senior Football League Division One final.
An eleven-point win over one of the rivals was a real confidence booster for Old Leighlin as they face into the remainder of the championship.
The win was all the more sweeter as it was their first ever division one league title success and O'Dwyer felt that once they got on top at midfield, there was only going to be one winner.
"I was surprised the way the game ended, but we got a grip at midfield and got some great scores up front. It had a league feel about it. I'm delighted as they hadn't won it before," Kearns told the Carlow Nationalist.
