Rainbow to mull over future

Carlow manager Anthony Rainbow has stated that he will take his time on making a decision over his future.

The former Kildare footballers first foray in the senior inter county management has been a baptism of fire as he has had to deal with a number of problems while preparing the side for the league and championship.

The biggest problem was the number of first choice players that opted off the panel, but Rainbow did a great job with the lads at his disposal and he instilled a unity amongst them that won their supporters over.

Highlight of the year was certainly the win over Waterford in the opening round of the qualifiers, but that campaign came to an abrupt end when defeated by Clare last Saturday.

Rainbow explained to the Carlow Nationalist that he will now take some time out and discuss his role as manager with his family and the county board.

"I have to sit down and talk to the county board and my family," said Rainbow. "If I am not involved with Carlow, it is not for me to say I will get involved with anybody next year. There is an awful lot of work in it, I have a young family.

"I have a job which is very busy as well. I could do well to take a break for a year or two. I'm not going to take that decision yet though."
