Carlow manager John Meyler has stressed that he has been up front and honest to his squad over the imminent return of the Mount Leinster Rangers contingent.

Following their All-Ireland club exploits, MLR players return to the Carlow squad on Thursday night for the first time this year.

In all likelihood, some of them will feature in the Division 2A HL final against Kerry in two weeks time and Meyler told the Carlow Nationalist that he has explained that to the players.

"I have been totally honest, brutally honest. I have spoken to them about that. Everyone in Carlow is welcome. We have a smaller number to pick from and that is not a problem in Cork, Tipperary or Kilkenny," said Meyler.

"They just come straight in. I have been totally honest and have told the players that this is what I expect. I want the fellas back in. I want competition for places."
