The future of Carlow senior hurling manager Colm Bonnar is up in the air at the moment.

A disappointed Bonnar spoke to the Carlow Nationalist in the aftermath of their defeat to Wexford in the Leinster SHC last weekend and hinted that it may be the time for a change of leadership.

The Tipperary native has worked wonders with the Barrowsiders during his time in charge. Last year, saw them lift the HL2A and Joe McDonagh Cup titles and although relegation back to the second tier looks highly likely, they performed admirably in the Leinster SHC this year.

However, Bonnar believes that maybe now is the time for change. “It has been a long road. I think I have done as much as I can with them. At this stage, we are all hugely disappointed,” said Bonnar.

“They are a solid bunch. It is hard to say what will happen, what can we do and it will take a small bit of thinking over the next couple of weeks.”
