Carlow’s David English believes that the unity in the squad helped them survive in HL1B.

The Barrowsiders pulled off a massive upset last Sunday when defeating Offaly to preserve their top flight status, while condemning the Faithful County to Division Two hurling for next year.

The current Carlow squad have made huge progress in the last two years and English claimed to the Carlow Nationalist that there is a massive bond between the small hurling community in the county.

“Look at everybody here,” said English. “There is family and friends here. Good club men. This is fantastic for Carlow.

“Four senior clubs. There is also Alan Corcoran from Bagenalstown Gaels. It is great for youngsters coming here to see this. Hopefully, we can pull off a strike against one of the big teams in the championship.”
