Down captain Darren O’Hagan expects Carlow coach Steven Poacher’s Mourne County roots to be the subject of much media commentary in the build-up to their Allianz FL Division 3 round 6 fixture.

O’Hagan and his team-mates are on course for an instant return to the second tier but they will be coming up against a coach who has first-hand knowledge of them next day out.

“There’s going to be talk about it (Poacher’s Down links), the media will talk about it, but we’ll let them talk away and concentrate on our own changing room and the way we’re playing,” O’Hagan remarked to the Irish News.

“We just look at the next match, that’s all you can do, keep focused, keep the changing room settled and look to get another two points against Carlow.

“It’s about winning games and having that winning mentality is hard to beat.”
