Mattie Kenny’s Dublin made it three wins from as many outings at Laois’ expense in O’Moore Park today to secure a Walsh Cup semi-final encounter with Galway.

John Hetherton’s return of seven points was a key ingredient in their winning formula as the visitors prevailed on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-16.

Eamonn Dillon netted their goal in the 4th minute but that was cancelled out by Aaron Dunphy and the sides went in level at the break on 1-8 apiece.

With 15 minutes gone in the second-half, Eddie Brennan’s Laois charges led by the narrowest of margins but Fergal Whitely levelled matters shortly after and the visitors went on to record a hard-earned two-point victory.

Meanwhile, Carlow got the better of Offaly by 2-18 to 0-18 in Netwatch Cullen Park.

Goals in either half from Chris Nolan and Martin Kavanagh proved to be the difference between the teams at the final whistle while the Faithful County were left to count the cost of 18 wides.

The first-half finished with the teams all square – Carlow 1-8, Offaly 0-11.
