Carlow hurlers are set for a big year in 2019 and their manager Colm Bonnar is looking forward to what it brings.

The Barrowsiders will ply their trade in the NHL Division 1B and the Leinster SHC next year. The Tipperary native could be forgiven for being daunted by the task ahead, but he is instead relishing the prospect of facing some of the top teams in the country.

“Obviously the likes of your Dublins, your Galways, your Waterfords are going to be a huge test for us,” Bonnar told the Carlow Nationalist.

“Then we will be finishing with two games against Laois and Offaly. We are delighted to score 2-23 on the 16th of December [against Laois]. We are playing good hurling and left a couple of goals behind us. We were going for it and that is all you can ask as a manager.”

Carlow hurlers begin their Division 1B campaign with a tough opener away to Dublin at Parnell Park on Saturday, January 26th.
